Geotechnical Drill Assistant – BC

    Key Responsibilities

      Experienced Geotechnical Driller

        Key Responsibilities

        • Monitor instruments such as pressure gauges, feed or weight indicators as well as observe the volume, colour and consistency of the returns from the hole.
        • Employ various sampling techniques according to project and client requirements.

        • Operate and troubleshoot drill and ancillary equipment, including, but not limited to; trucks, support vehicles, pumps, heaters, compressors, mud re-circulation systems, etc.

          Role

          Geotech Drilling is looking for an experienced HD Field Mechanic to work on rotation at our long-standing programs. Competitive wages and benefits are offered. This dynamic position will support our operations involving a variety of exploration drilling equipment. The successful candidate will lead all repairs, including diagnostics on support equipment. Geotech covers all travel and camp costs.

          Key Responsibilities

          • Disassemble and reassemble components such as engines, transmissions, cooling systems, fuel and exhaust systems, breaks, clutches, differentials, hydraulics, electrical systems and lubrication systems
          • Inspect and test to detect faults and malfunctions in drill units, diesel compressors, hydraulic support equipment, high pressure water pumps
          • Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required
          • Perform duties that range from routine preventative maintenance to repairing major breakdowns, including troubleshooting and diagnostics
          • Contributing to the development of apprentices and working as part of a team to accomplish maintenance goals and targets.

          Professional Experience / Qualifications

              5th Person

              The 5th Person works alongside a drill team as their support, and ensure that all equipment and resources operate safely and efficiently.

              Duties and Responsibilities:

              • Load and unload equipment.
              • Prepare work sites and maintain cleanliness.
              • Drive, operate, refuel and wash Geotech equipment, including trucks, support vehicles, generators, pumps, and hand tools.
              • Continuously prepare and supply the driller and drill assistant with tooling and materials necessary to maintain the drilling operations.
              • Assist in collecting samples or other tasks relevant to the operation of a drilling program.
              • Handle drill rods and casing, core tubes and core samples.
              • Maintain a water source (if required for the project).
              • Mix drill mud.
              • Load and unload materials, supplies, and tooling before and after projects.
              • Set up materials at the job site in a safe, designated area.
              • Housekeeping and other duties as assigned by the Drill Supervisor.
              • Work with little or no supervision.
              • Adhere to safety protocols at all times.

              Qualifications:

              • Must have valid Class 3 or higher Driver’s Licence 
              • 3+ years’ experience in mining or construction.
              • Ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly.
              • Ability to prioritize and accomplish tasks in a timely manner.
              • Experience working around helicopters.
              • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
              • Strong problem-solving abilities.
              • Ability to work independently with limited guidance.
              • Familiarity with various drilling techniques and equipment, including tooling and inventory, is a strong asset.
              • Standard First Aid (will provide if needed)
              • Ability to complete a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.

              Hours of Work:

              4 weeks on, 2 weeks off, 12 hr days. Flexibility with schedule as rotation is subject to change.

              Salary: $28-32/hr, based on experience.

                Journeyman Automotive Mechanic: Four Month Contract. 

                We are seeking a skilled and reliable Journeyman Automotive Mechanic to maintain and service our fleet of vehicles.

                This is a four (4) month contract position with the potential for extension based on performance. The ideal candidate will have expertise in diagnosing and repairing a range of vehicles, ensuring safety and efficiency.                 Key Responsibilities

                1. Perform diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on vehicles.
                2. Test all systems or components ensuring they are secure and working properly.
                3. Adjust, repair, or replace parts and components including fuel system, brakes, steering and suspension, engine and drive train, emission control and exhaust, cooling and climate control, and electrical and electronic systems.
                4. Watch or inspect parts such as: hoses, belts, plugs, fuel systems, brakes, and other possible troublesome items.

                Warehouse Person/ Shipper Receiver

                  Warehouse Person/ Shipper Receiver

                  We are looking for a Warehouse Person/ Shipper Receiver to manage inventory, coordinate shipments, and support field operations. This role involves handling drilling materials, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries, and maintain an organized warehouse to keep operations running smoothly.

                  Key Responsibilities

                  • Assist Warehouse, Shipping/Receiving, Operations and Yard staff where required.
                  • Fill and complete requisitions in a timely manner.
                  • Ensure all documentation is complete and shared with appropriate parties.
                  • Assist in shipping, receiving and inventory management.
                  • Ensure internal and external rentals are available upon request.
                  • Process weekly and monthly reports including damages, returns and currently rented items.
                  • Ensure rentals are returned in a timely manner.
                  • Inspect incoming load requisitions for expected rentals.
                  • Maintain tracking mechanism for rentals.
                  • Create requisitions for rental/internal kits that require restocking.
                  • Conduct sign in/out of rental and internal kits.
                  • Other duties as required.

                  Qualifications

                  ·       1-2 years previous experience in a warehouse, shipping/ receiving or logistics.

                  ·       Must have strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other relevant software.

                  ·       Experience in drilling, mining, or construction industries is a strong asset.

                  Parts Technician

                    Position Overview:

                    The Parts Technician will be responsible for managing inventory, ordering, and distributing parts required for our drilling operations. This role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate effectively with mechanics, operators, and vendors to ensure seamless operations.

                    Key Responsibilities:

                    • Maintain and manage inventory of drilling equipment parts, tools, and supplies.
                    • Order, receive, and distribute parts as needed to support the maintenance and repair of drilling rigs and fleet vehicles.
                    • Ensure accurate records of inventory levels and transactions using the company’s inventory management system.
                    • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to source quality parts at competitive prices.
                    • Assist mechanics and drill teams by providing timely access to required parts.
                    • Perform regular audits of inventory to prevent shortages and overstock situations.
                    • Ensure proper labeling and storage of parts for easy accessibility.
                    • Process purchase orders, invoices, and related paperwork accurately.
                    • Assist Shop Manager by entering employee timesheets into payroll as well as assist with other computer related projects to ensure the efficient operation of the shop.
                    • Comply with company safety policies and procedures when handling parts and equipment.

                    Qualifications & Skills:

                    • Previous experience in a parts or inventory management role, preferably in the drilling, mining, construction or heavy equipment industry.
                    • Knowledge of drilling equipment, heavy machinery, and associated components.
                    • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
                    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
                    • Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
                    • Experience with ERP systems (i.e., Microsoft Dynamics NAV) is considered a strong asset.
                    • ITA Certification for Parts Technician considered an asset.
                    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with mechanics, drill crews, and suppliers.
                    • Ability to lift and carry heavy parts as needed.
                    • Valid driver’s licence.
